According to Insider TV here are the song choices for the contestants (all predicitons subject to change at the whim of AI Gods):
Taylor Hicks: Levon by Elton John and Living for the City by Stevie Wonder. The new single he'll be performing is Do I Make You Proud, written by Tracy Ackerman, Andrew John Watkins and Paul David Wilson.
Katharine McPhee: Over the Rainbow (old standard) and Black Horse and the Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall. The new single she'll perform is called My Destiny, written by Hanne Sorvaag.
It's a toss-up, y'all. Tonight you will either join the Soul-Patrol...
or catch the McPheever.
Just remember. You cannot be Switzerland tonight. If you vote for both, you cancel yourself out. Come on. Just pick a side already.
But if (*sigh*) Kat does that sexy, bouncy, on the floor dancing thing again while singing Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, well, then (Woo!) Taylor better (Woo!... Woo!) sing the HELL out of Levon (Soul Patrol!) or I can't be held responsible for where my vote will be heading, that's all I'm saying.
Cat... out.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone look that uncomfortable with ahot girl hanging off of him. Things that make you go "hmmmmmmmm."

I've got the McPheever and have had it since the beginning. I don't really care who sings better (*coughTaylorcough*), but please, if the AI Gods are listening, PLEASE let her wear that yellow dress again. Or the jeans that showed off her nice behind. Either is acceptable. Oh! Or maybe one song in each. Thank you. (Perhaps you could pass this wish along for me, Cat.. since you seem to have an in with God and all. Thanks!)

BAsed on the fact that the dude with the grey hair is singing Levon I would vote for him. I don't watch but maybe I will tonight.

Can't help with the yellow dress. Even I couldn't keep her contained in that thing, and the network censors won't allow another shot of the McPanties.
I'll see what I can do about the jeans, but I have to say I'm in manufacturing, not in packaging and marketing. I did some good work with the girl, but if they put her in that brown Hef-T-Bag again, I cannot be held responsible.- » 5/23/2006 11:45 AM

I'm in the soul patrol, folks! I think McKat is a little too Mcprocessed for my liking, ya know? Besides, ya gotta love a guy that dances like no ones watching in front of millions!

Ok, gonna post real-time from my laptop ... see how that works ...
Kat ... did OK with Black Horse and a Cherry Tree ... I had to agree with Simon, good warmup, not anything like how special it was the day before ... I'm unapologetic in my Kat love (as opposed to my Cat love, for which I apologize, but it can't be helped) ... but in this case, she needed to bump the bar way up and opened ... tepid.
Taylor ... see, Kat, that's what you had to do. Not the hideous jacket, but the performance. Buddy exploded out of the blocks, enough that two judges congratulaqted him on a great way to "Open the show" (which, if I'm Kat, I'm like "HUH? Hello!"). Anyway, Taylor hit the hard one and stuck the landing, so ... round one to him ...
More to come ...- » 5/23/2006 6:26 PM

Round Two:
Kat: Recreated Somewhere Over the Rainbow and did it .. well, even MORE perfectly, if that's possible. Randy starts with "Yo yo, check it out ..." which is never great. But he likes it. Paula rambles drunkenly and loves it, and Simon loves it even more.
I worry, because I'm not so sure the voting public is mature enough to get the subtlety of what she does in that song, tiptoeing above and below the melody line so skilfully. Can America dig subtle?
Taylor: With Levon ... a much easier song to sing, and even so he had some pitch issues. It was a good performance ... not what I've come to expect from him, but OK. Randy hears the pitchy .. Paula is drunk and Simon calls her on it ... and agrees that Kat took round two ...
more to come ... (I'm lovin' this, and I hope my darlin' Cat doesn't mind ...)
The singles to come .. I'm scared ... I HATE the singles, which always suck donkeys. But ... let's see.- » 5/23/2006 6:40 PM

Also, with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," Kat reigned it in a big - just like Simon told her to. She didn't oversing the song and it gave me goosebumps!

Round Three:
Sucky song for Kat ... and yikes, Kat, how COULD you let them sausage you into that hideous battleship grey fugly dress. But the song ... it's sucky on its own ... but worse, the performance is weak ... pitch problems all over the place, painfully so, breathiness, and just look at her face, she KNOWS it.
Randy starts with "You look amazing" which ... ouch. The judges hate the song as much as me, and Simon hopes America votes based on Rainbow and not that sack of shit song. I agree.
Ry-ry says "That is it for Kat" and he might be right, dammit.
Taylor with his single: which is slightly less sucky. He does it fine, not over the moon, not worthy of the orgasms Randy and Paula have, although in Paula's defense she's hammered. They go on to have Simon declare Taylor the winner, and the other judges argue that THEY always knew he was the winner, not Simon ... and at some point you throw up your hands and say "Whatevah". And did I catch Constanteyeshit in the audience there? double whatev.
Good Canadian kid to close the show ... and four hours of voting before tomorrow's bloated two hour results show, which I probably won't watch ...
I call Taylor as the winner, but Kat to have the meaningful career.
But what do I know? I wanna know what my girl Cat says.- » 5/23/2006 7:06 PM
