Desperate Working Mommas
Your one-stop site for fanatical television snarking, questionable political analysis, occasional attempts to address the parenting issues facing working mothers, and halfhearted promises to stop obsessing about the entertainment industry, already! Oh, not to mention the random bitching and moaning. There's always that.

A word to the wise...

Although it has some limited educational value, it is best not to Mace yourself just to see how it feels.

Not that I would know anything about that. I'm just saying.

I used to carry a can of mace, long before I had kids. When I first bought it, I walked outside and sprayed it, just to make sure it worked.

Spraying it into the wind probably ranks right up there as one of the dumber things I've ever done.

When Deputy Dad was in the Police Academy, part of their training required them to take a direct hit of pepper spray in the face. I told him that was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard....what's next? You have to get shot with a gun before you can carry it, too?!?

I have had mace sprayed in my direction a few times. (I know that does not sound good but I worked in a nightclub and our security had to use it a few times). I gag thinking about it.

Any experience with a taser yet? Everybody who carries one at the department has to get shot with one first. (Yeah, same with the pepper spray.) They video tape it for liability reasons. But it's pretty funny to watch.

I once thought about pepper-spraying the dog to see if it worked. I didn't want to spray myself!!! I didn't do it, but the thought did cross my mind...On the same note as the mace-in-the-face-by-the-cops-in-training-thing, when you are in boot camp, they make you go in a gas chamber and take your mask off. It's taped, too. The things we do to ourselves...

When we first had Invisible Fence installed for the dog, Carter strapped it to his leg and ran through. Of course, he cranked it up to the highest setting because he's "tougher than any dog." Funny stuff.

I had to rethink this post. When you said "Mace yourself in the face" I assumed it was the spray variety.

Did, maybe you mean the spiked ball on the end of a chain variety. That would suck.

While I would probably never try the mace on me, I can certainly think of a few people I'd like to test it on.
YOu know, just for the science.
